As everyone knows, the economy blows therefor it's become extremely difficult to make even a little money these days. We are on the verge of having to make some decisions based on this fact alone. It may come in the form of scrapping some future releases, or at least pushing them back further than expected.

I've spoke with other label owners recently and their experiencing the same issues. People aren't buying. Everyone is over stocked and product is not leaving the shelves.

We've been lucky with some really good selling cds lately from the sub-label Sullen that has managed to keep us a float. Hopefully we can see that upcoming Sullen releases selling as strongly as the prior ones.

The sad thing is that our $6 and $5 Cd sales have been known to save a bad month for us. This past $5 CD sale didn't even make a dent.

I guess time will only tell.

All I know is that we need cheaper gas and food.

I'd appreciate if this thread didn't get copied to any other boards or news sites. I'm just venting to the people that I consider friends.

Thanks bro. We'll stay afloat in one capacity or another, it's just a matter of making wise decisions. At this point we've come to the conclusion that Christian metal releases are the best selling OGR & Sullen Releases. If it's black metal it will sell, if it's death metal it might sell (chances are against it however).

It's a changing world out there.

Yeah.. thats odd when you think about it... black metal is selling more than death metal.. and your selling more christian black metal than anything else? lol... that is indeed odd....

Well, I just did my little part and ordered myself two pre-orders (the comp and Sapremia) plus the first Sapremia (Hollow) immediately after reading this post.

I do concur that the economy blows a lot these days. I work in a kitchen at a local restaurant as a cook; so needless to say, I am not very well paid geek Crying or Very sad . I basically feed, clothe, and house my family off my checks with very little else left over. I do get my share of tips from the servers up front to pay for my love of metal; but seeing as there are less people actually eating out, my tip out has not been that great as of late; thus my purchasing power has gone down.

But having to not yet be let down by an OGR/Sullen release cheers , I will be one of those who will keep buying from you as long as the cash flow allows .

With this said, can we assume that the Elgibbor's you hope to have coming out WILL be coming out?

Trephining, thank you. The post wasn't intended to make anyone get their wallet out. It was just me telling of the frustration of things lately.

I'm really glad that you've been happy with all of our releases that you ordered. Smile

Your support is much appreciated.

Thanks!

may I feel free to ask how many copies you print for Open Grave cd's, and how much get sold most of the time?

I think the 250 thing of Sullen really helps,
making the albums a bit harder to obtain, adding a collector's value to it.

I know that sales are going down everywhere,
Bands used to sell loads of copies, and unless you tour a whole lot, you won't be selling too many cd's these days.

Making more than 500-1000 cd's isn't a smart move if you aren't too well known, and that seriously sucks.

I support as much as I can and ALWAYS buy my cd's, but at the moment my funds are extremely low, and if I keep buying cd's and shirts I won't be able to pay for other (more important Sad ) things.

James, do know that all the people here fully support you.

OGR makes 1000 units of each of it's releases. Most bands haven't sold over 200 copies. We've had a few that haven't even broken 100 copies sold.

Yeah, I'm sure you are seeing the bigger picture now.

Have you thought of adding the OGR store to this database http://www.metalpricewatch.com/

I do not think having OGR affiliated with this site would be a bad idea in the least, for as it grows, so will sales for OGR; especially the $6.00 discs. This site will soon be well known and used by metal BUYERS everywhere, you watch.
